Meghan Chase has a secret destiny; one she could never have imagined.
Something has always felt slightly off in Meghan’s life, ever since her father disappeared before her eyes when she was six. She has never quite fit in at school or at home.
When a dark stranger begins watching her from afar, and her prankster best friend becomes strangely protective of her, Meghan senses that everything she’s known is about to change.
But she could never have guessed the truth – that she is the daughter of a mythical faery king and is a pawn in a deadly war. Now Meghan will learn just how far she’ll go to save someone she cares about, to stop a mysterious evil, no faery creature dare face; and to find love with a young prince who might rather see her dead than let her touch his icy heart.
Hey Everyone,
This week I read The Iron King by Julie Kagawa which has been on my list forever! This just goes to show when Goodreads keeps recommending a books to you, you should probably read it. The summary is very generic to a book of its kind but I still was intrigued because Goodreads kept pushing me to read it so I finally bought it on Kindle. I finished reading the Iron King in one day. It kept me hooked the entire time and I continued to read the rest of the books in the series. If you are interested in Fae books or you liked Shakespeare’s Midsummer’s Night Dream I can honestly say you will thoroughly enjoy this book.
The story starts with a flashback and then goes into Meghan’s story. It is narrated by her and the first few chapters are just going through her daily life.Of course we got some strange occurrence but that is only to set the mood for the rest of the book. We have her mother, father, little brother Ethan who sees more than he says, and her best friend Robbie. When her brother is kidnapped by Fae, Robbie reveals himself to be none other than Robin Goodfellow AKA Puck from Midsummers! However I didn’t like that Meghan believes him to quickly about Fae and the hidden world. If I was in her situation, I totally would have been more skeptical! He takes her into his world to help find her brother and they meet a mysterious Winter Prince name Ash, who tries to kill them. Now we have the makings for a kickass love triangle. I am definitely on Team Ash though. As they journey through the Nevernever, she discovers she has powers that no Fae has seen before and with a new threat arising, they came just in time.
In efforts not to spoil so much, i’ll end with saying this book is addictive so clear your schedule before you start the book because you will not be putting it down until the last page. I give this book:
Till next time
