Amid Stars and Darkness by Chani Lynn Feener

Summary of Amid Frost and Fury

Delaney’s entire world is thrown into chaos after she is mistaken for Lissa Olena, an alien princess hiding out on Earth to escape an arranged marriage.
Kidnapped by the princess’s head bodyguard, Ruckus, and imprisoned in an alien palace, Delaney is forced to impersonate the princess until Olena can be found. If she fails, it will lead to an alien war and the eventual enslavement of the entire human race.
No pressure or anything.
Factor in Trystan, the princess’s terrifying betrothed who is intent on unraveling all her secrets, and her own growing feelings for Ruckus, and Delaney is in way over her head.

Review

Greetings Earthlings,
This week I am reviewing Amid Stars and Darkness by the fabulous Chani Lynn Feener. For fans of the Lux Series by Jennifer L Armentrout or Alienated by Melissa Landers. I am all for a good intergalactic adventure, and this book fit into that category so let’s dive right in.

The story begins as Delaney and her best friend Mariana sneaking into a club for Mariana to meet up with a hot alien. Bartender. In this world, aliens have already revealed themselves to us and now are a part of daily life. Delaney and Mariana even play a game of “Us or Them” in which they try to guess who is human and who is extraterrestrial.

Once they get into the club, Mariana meets up with her alien date, and Delaney is by herself. That’s when things begin going downhill for Delaney.

She is kidnapped and brought to another planet because she has been mistaken for Lissa Olena, the princes of this planet. Somehow Lissa Olena planted a device that gave Delaney her face and now until Lissa can be found, Delaney has to take her place. Now, with the help of Rukus the bodyguard, and the Queen and King of Vakar, Delaney will have to fool their alien enemies and her “betrothed” in order to survive.

Some Analysis

I think this book moved pretty quickly and in a good way. Everything flows at a good pace leaving the reader no time to get bored with the book. Feener did a fantastic job creating this literary universe. I was impressed by the thought that was put into creating the Vakar World. From their language to their royalty and culture, everything was meticulously thought out.

This is, in part, an intergalactic romance story. The connection between Delaney and Rukus, the bodyguard who “kidnapped” her is slow to develop into a romance. This, of course, is due to Delaney having to pretend to be the princess who is already . engaged. Part of me did feel bad for Zane Ander, who is Lissa Olena’s betrothed. I don’t know if that was the author’s intention, but it was hard for me not to feel sympathy for him at the end of the book.

This book is beautifully crafted and I would recommend it to all those who need an escape from reality.
I give this book:

I can’t wait to read the next book in the series Between Frost and Fury.
