Happy 2019 EVERYONE!
It is finally the New Year and what better way to kick it off then with this AMAZING book review!
Okay so FOREVER people have been recommending Sarah J Maas’ series A Court of Thorns and Roses to me. Well, I finally read it, and HOLY SH*T why didn’t I do it sooner? If you know me, you know I love the fae genre, and this book doesn’t dissapoint.
Overview
A Court of Thorns and Roses (henceforth referred to as ACOTAR), tells the story of Feyre (pronounced fay-ra), an 18-year-old girl who hunts to support her father and two older sisters (sort of a reverse Hunger Games). In this world, many years ago, there a battle took place between Fae and Humans. In the aftermath, a treaty was drawn up, and a wall was constructed to separate the two realms.
Feyre and her family live close to this wall, and when out hunting, Feyre comes across a deer and a Wolf, she kills them both skins the, and sells them at the market.
Later that day, her family’s home was visited by a wolf/man who told her the wolf she killed was a Fae and that the treaty demands a life for a life. He tells her he won’t kill her if she would only live out the rest of her mortal life in the fae realm (Now we have Beauty and the Beast vibes).
Ok so that’s the beginning of the book, and I don’t want to spoil any more of it for you because it was just amazing!
Rating
Sarah J Maas has a real knack for writing novels that always keep you on your toes. Sometimes you can guess where a plot is going, but I was in the dark and that was so refreshing.
I usually review YA books but this is more in the NA (New Adult) genre, so it might be more appropriate for readers who are in their later teens.
It has been a while since I have been this captivated by a book world, so I am so happy to give this book:
I hope you all are having a terrific start to your 2019!
What is the last book that consumed you?
XOXO Shelby Grace
