Morning Everyone!
Today I am reviewing Renegades by Marissa Meyer! If you don’t know who she is, Marissa Meyer is the author of The Lunar Chronicles and the standalone novel Heartless. I absolutely adore The Lunar Chronicles and Heartless is on my Want to Read list. I read this book as a part of my December TBR list after hearing about it for months!

The main thing that appealed to me about this was the fact its a SUPERHERO book. This is not something you typically see in the YA genre, besides the book Powerless which is AMAZING and you should definitely read if you liked this book. Anyway, I am a big superhero nerd so that is what got me so excited about Renegades.

This was a long book. 552 pages are no joke but nonetheless, I really enjoyed reading it. There were some slow parts and I did have to take some breaks when reading it, but the plot brought me back.

Our protagonist, Nova, is a villain named Nightmare who is hellbent on taking down the Renegades, a legion of superheroes. In order to accomplish this, Nova goes undercover as a new recruit for the Renegades.

The squad she joins is lead by Adrian Everheart (AKA Sketch) who is the adopted son of the two biggest heroes of the legion. These are also the highest people on Nova’s kill list.

Going undercover, Nova has clear objectives but as she interacts more with her team, she realizes that not every superhero is bad and that life isn’t as black and white as people would believe.

Marissa Meyer wrote an amazing story. I felt like there was a lot of filler scene but I endured them in order to get to the more action filled parts. The fact that I kept reading through those slow scenes is proof how addictive the plot is.
