Caraval by Stephanie Garber

Good morning!

Today I am reviewing Caraval by Stephanie Garber. This has been on my TBR for a really long time. So many people told me that I would love this series so I finally read it!

Caraval tells the tale of sisters Scarlett and Donatella Dragna (beautiful names BTW). Their wish is to attend Caraval, the magical performance put on by the reclusive Legend. When Scarlett receives two tickets from Legend himself, she and her sister go to the magical island to take part in his games. As soon as they arrive, Tella is taken and Scarlett learns that to win the game, she must save her sister. The book is  full of plot twists and surprises that get you caught up in the magic that is Caraval

I really enjoyed Scarlett’s character development throughout this book. We first meet her as a  scared young woman, living in fear of her father, Governer Dragna. Scarlett has an arranged marriage to a count but knows nothing about him, she only knows that by marrying him, she will be able to protect herself and her sister. Scarlett makes her decisions out of fear but after entering Caraval, she begins to see a life outside the confines of her father’s control. By the end, Scarlett is a badass who won’t let anyone stand in the way of saving her sister, not even the Julian, the man she has begun to care for in the book.

I give this book

I am not usually a 5-star reviewer but this book was an adventure. Caraval was one of the most magical places I have read about in a long time! Each twist and turn leaves you breathless, I got lost in the magic that of Legend’s Caraval. I am so excited to read the next book in the series!
