Siege & Storm by Leigh Bardugo

Good Morning Book Lovers,

Today I am reviewing Siege & Storm by Leigh Bardugo! This is the second book in the Grisha Verse trilogy and holy guacamole was it good. There were some slow parts in the book but when the action came, Bardugo doesn’t disappoint.

The books begin where Shadow and Bone leave off, with Mal and Alina on the run from the  Darkling. Eventually, however, the Darkling catches up with them and takes them on his quest to find the second amplifier. Alina and Mal then escape this predicament and with the help of their new friend Nikolai (my love), they begin to assemble an army to take down the Darkling.

I really enjoyed the characters in this story, much more than I sometimes enjoyed the story itself. Alina’s struggle with her inner darkness makes her a compelling character and I really enjoyed watching her journey. I wasn’t really sure I liked Mal in the last book but I definitely started to like his character more here. Nikolai was Nikolai and I never want him to change 🙂

Despite all the horrible things the  Darkling has done, I find that he is still one of my favorite characters in this series. Most villains in YA are pure evil but he has so many layers that I find myself drawn to his side of the story.

Once again, Leigh Bardugo created a complex and diverse world within the pages of her book and I am so excited to finish off this series with Ruin & Rising. I give this book

I hope you all have a wonderful week! Let me know your thoughts on Siege & Storm in the comments below!
