City of Bones by Cassandra Clare

Hello fellow Bibliophiles,

Today I am (finally) reviewing City of Bones by Cassandra Clare. Can someone explain to me how I haven’t done a formal review of this yet? I can’t! The first time I read this book back was in 2014. It is one of the books that got me into YA fantasy. I recommend this book to almost everyone because of the writing, plot, and characters. Cassandra Clare just paints such a clear picture through her words in this book!

City of Bones tells the story of Clary Fray, a 15-year-old girl who lives with her mom and loves spending time with her best friend Simon Lewis. One night, at a club with Simon, Clary discovers a hidden world in New York, the world of the Shadowhunters. When her mother goes missing, Clay discovers just how connected she is to the Shadowhunter world.

I really don’t have anything bad to say about this book. As soon as I read it, I fell in love with all the characters because they were so well written that they seemed to come off the page. I especially love how dynamic Alec Lightwood is. He comes off as obnoxious and rude but really he is holding a lot inside and once you understand that, you understand him as a character,

This book is so intricate and has so many layers but is also just a fun read however I will warn you that this is the first book in a six book series, so be prepared to be in this for the long haul! I give this book:

I hope you enjoyed this review and I look forward to doing reviews for the other 5 books! Have a great rest of your week!
