Hello and Good Morning,
Today I am going to be reviewing Happily Ever After by Kelly Oram! This is the sequel to one of my favorite books of all time Cinder & Ella. This book was such a fun surprise because I thought that Cinder and Ella ’s story was over. Then Kelly surprised us with this gem and I think I started to squeal very loudly. Please check out my review for Cinder & Ella here.
This sequel picks off one week after the ending of Cinder & Ella. Brian and Ella are finally together, Ella is studying for her GED and Brian is just happy. Overall they are happy, but trouble seems to find this adorable couple really easily (which sucks cause I just want them to be happy).
One of the biggest obstacles in this book is Ella’s relationship with her father. While it was a minor issue last book, it really came to a head here. Ella still hasn’t totally forgiven her father for abandoning her when she was young and when he starts to really challenge her relationship with Brian, it causes a very large rift.
One thing I really liked about this book was Ella’s journey of self-acceptance. In Cinder & Ella, we see Ella really struggling with her body image because of her scars and burns. She is afraid of any intimacy, and her mental health is still in a fragile place from the last book. As she adjusts to fame, we see Ella begin to embrace her scars (with some help from Serial Hottie’s characters Ellie and Seth) and see that she is truly beautiful, scars and all. I really love how supportive Brian is of this process and is always there to tell her she is beautiful inside and out, I really want a Brian 🙁
This book was in one word, AMAZING, I had a blast reentering into Brian and Ella’s world and truly just love these characters! It truly was a Happily Ever After. I give this book
What is your favorite sequel to a book?
Hope everyone has an amazing day!
