Hello and happy end of April!
Today I am doing my April wrap up of all the books I read this month! I read EIGHT BOOKS! I have them all below with some short reviews for each of them! Let me know if you met your reading goal this month and what was your favorite!
Ash Princess by Laura Sebastian – 4 Stars
Overall I really enjoyed how this book flowed and had a lot of fun with this quick and easy read. Even though the beginning is a bit hard, it quickly levels out and you just get lost in the world. Perfect for a lover of fantasy and royalty!
Daughter of the Pirate King by Tricia Levenseller – 3 Stars
Wow. There aren’t many pirate books out there, and there are even less about female pirates. Daughter of the Pirate King, while slow at the beginning was a really enjoyable book! I do wish there had been a bit more pirating and action, but overall it was a very enjoyable read!
Sky in the Deep by Adrienne Young – 4 Stars
I wasn’t totally sure if I’d like this book when I first heard about it, but once I got into it, I really enjoyed the story. I really love the message of how two sides can overcome anything when faced with a common enemy. I also really loved how Eelyn wasn’t a “chosen one” kind of character. She was just a girl who wanted to do right by her village and her gods.
House of Salt and Sorrows by Erin Craig – 3 Stars
I want to say how absolutely gorgeous I thought this book cover! I love the story of the 12 Dancing princesses and really enjoyed seeing the parallels between this book and that fairytale! I am not usually a fan of horror, suspense but I found that I really enjoyed it in this book. There were romance and action, and a mystery to be solved. This was a unique take on a story that doesn’t get many retellings and I am so happy I got a chance to read it.
Birthday Girl by Penelope Douglas – 4 Stars
I thought I would be turned away from this book due to its taboo subject matter, but in the end, I found it extremely enjoyable and loved it! It was pretty slow-burn but that just made the relationship even more heated and well, romantic for me.
Star-Crossed by Pintip Dunn – 3 Stars
Star-Crossed was ultimately a really good book although hard to get into at first. There is little context at the beginning so you are sort of thrown into this new world. Once you start to understand the world and its laws, it becomes really enjoyable to read!
Daughter of the Siren Queen by Tricia Levenseller – 5 Stars
Wow. I really really enjoyed reading this book! I thought the action and story were so much better than the first. I really loved Alosa’s character development as she learned to be more vulnerable with the people she cares about. I enjoyed the fight scenes, the twists, and the romance and thought overall it was a 5-star book!
Gemina by Amie Kaufman and Jay Kristoff
As usual, Amie Kaufman and Jay Kristoff have outdone themselves with this larger than life novel. Once I started to get into it, I couldn’t stop. This series is just so interactive and makes you feel like you are right there in the action. I loved Hannah and Nick and thought they were so much fun to read about! I can’t wait to read the final installment, Obsidio!
I hope you all enjoyed this wrap-up! Let me know in the comments what you thought of the books and what you read as well!
