The Everlasting Rose by Dhonielle Clayton

Good Morning Lovelies,

Today I am reviewing the Everlasting Rose by Dhonielle Clayton! This is the second book in the  Belles series! I also listened to this book on audiobook and I highly recommend doing that! Let’s get to the review!

Synopsis

In this sequel to the instant New York Times bestseller, Camille, her sister Edel, and her guard and new love Remy must race against time to find Princess Charlotte. Sophia’s Imperial forces will stop at nothing to keep the rebels from returning Charlotte to the castle and her rightful place as queen.

With the help of an underground resistance movement called The Iron Ladies – a society that rejects beauty treatments entirely-and the backing of alternative newspaper The Spider’s Web, Camille uses her powers, her connections, and her cunning to outwit her greatest nemesis, Sophia, and restore peace to Orleans.

Plot

I think this book flowed really smoothly. I think I liked the first one better because it was more shocking and new to me. I still loved the character development and the fact we got to see more of the world of Orleans, but I feel like it was a lot of build-up for only one or two chapters at the end of the main fight.

Character

I think Camille definitely had more development in this book! She is getting a better look at the people who live outside the elite. I do wish there had been more of Remy and their love story. They sent his character away about ¼ of the way through the book!

Last Thoughts

I really enjoyed the story of this book and how Clayton wasn’t afraid to get a bit dark in this story! While I enjoyed it, from a critical standpoint, there were a lot of things that I wish were done differently!!
