It is finally starting to get cold where I am which is why I say that 😛 Today I am super excited to be reviewing a graphic novel, Batman Nightwalker by Marie Lu. This is the graphic novel adaptation of the novel she wrote by the same name! It is all about young Bruce Wayne and I am excited to share my thoughts below!

Synopsis

Bruce Wayne is turning 18 and inheriting his family’s fortune. But on the way home from his birthday party, he makes an impulsive choice that leads him to Arkham Asylum, the infamous mental hospital. There, he meets Madeline Wallace, a brilliant killer . . . and Bruce’s only hope. Madeline is the mystery Bruce must unravel, but is he convincing her to divulge her secrets, or is he feeding her the information she needs to bring Gotham City to its knees?

Bruce Wayne is proof that you don’t need superpowers to be a superhero, but can he survive Madeleine’s game of tense intrigue and deception?

Review

This was such a beautiful adaptation f a graphic novel. Batman: Nightwalker was such a cool insight into Bruce Wayne’s life as a teenager, dealing with adulthood after his parent’s untimely demise. The artwork was so beautifully done especially because it was all done in the same black, blue, and yellow color scheme. I was worried it would be boring or repetitive but the colors and illustrations were done in a way that kept me intrigued. I thought Madeline and Bruce’s story was so raw and real and perfect for a superhero graphic novel. My only criticism is that Bruce is not quite Batman yet so I wish the term “Batman” was kept out of the title. Other than that, I really enjoyed this tale.

Overall I am happy that I tried the book and maybe one day i’ll read the novel it is based on! What are your thoughts on graphic novel adaptations of books?
