Hello Everyone!
Who is ready for a more creepy mystery review? I am super excited to be reviewing Stalking Jack the Ripper for you all today! This is a book I was not sure I would like but ended up really enjoying! I can’t wait to hear your thoughts below!
Synopsis
Seventeen-year-old Audrey Rose Wadsworth was born a lord’s daughter, with a life of wealth and privilege, stretched out before her. But between the social teas and silk dress fittings, she leads a forbidden secret life.
Against her stern father’s wishes and society’s expectations, Audrey often slips away to her uncle’s laboratory to study the gruesome practice of forensic medicine. When her work on a string of savagely killed corpses drags Audrey into the investigation of a serial murderer, her search for answers brings her close to her own sheltered world.
The story’s shocking twists and turns, augmented with real, sinister period photos, will make this dazzling, #1 New York Times bestselling debut from author Kerri Maniscalco impossible to forget.
Review
Wow. It took me a while to get through this book but I really loved it. For the first time, I found myself loving a mystery novel!! Audrey Rose was badass and I love how Thomas challenged her to be better, their bantering was definitely a highlight. While I did guess the identity of the murderer eventually, it took me longer than usual and that was a big plus in my book!
I also thought the forensics were really interesting. Especially since it was forensics in the victorian era. The descriptions were really intense (and sometimes truly disgusting), but overall I really enjoyed it. I cannot wait to read the second book in the series.
