Obsidio by Amie Kaufman and Jay Kristoff

Good morning lovely humans,

Today I am reviewing the final book in the Illuminae Files trilogy, Obsidio by Amie Kaufman and Jay  Kristoff. This series is just unlike anything I had ever read before and I am so sad to see it end! It has been such an amazing experience to read! So here is my review!

Synopsis

Kady, Ezra, Hanna, and Nik narrowly escaped with their lives from the attacks on Heimdall station and now find themselves crammed with 2,000 refugees on the container ship, Mao. With the jump station destroyed and their resources scarce, the only option is to return to Kerenza—but who knows what they’ll find seven months after the invasion?

Meanwhile, Kady’s cousin, Asha, survived the initial BeiTech assault and has joined Kerenza’s ragtag underground resistance. When Rhys—an old flame from Asha’s past—reappears on Kerenza, the two find themselves on opposite sides of the conflict.

With time running out, a final battle will be waged on land and in space, heroes will fall, and hearts will be broken.

Plot

In this final installment, we learn about the survivors on Kerenza IV after the deadly BeiTech industries attack. It switches back and forth between that story and the story of the passengers on the Mao who are trying to return to the core to share their stories of how they were terrorized!

Over the past two books, we have heard about the Illuminae Group and the case they are making against BeiTech industries but we don’t really know that much about them until this book. It is obvious that Kady, Ezra, Nik, Hannah, and Ella are a part of it but in this book, we actually get to see them compiling the files.

Characters

It was so much fun to see all of the characters interact finally in this book. Before, we really only got the separate storylines of Kady and Ezra, and Nik, Hannah, and Ella. Finally, here we get to see them come together and interact and formulate a plan to save the people they love most.

Last Thoughts

I thought this book flowed really smoothly and loved how the story finished up! Part of me wishes I had listened to it with the audiobook because I have heard amazing things about it, so maybe i’ll do that with my reread!

Rating

I give this book

5 Nutella

Did you like this series? I am going to have a major book hangover with this one!!
